Encouraging entrepreneurship from its beginnings! 

Trader Buck’s Family of Flea Markets got its start June 1, 2007. Siblings Lee Stichter and Glenda Fouts opened the first Trader Buck’s location in Lafayette Indiana, their hometown. Trader Buck’s is rooted in family, including our name. Buck was Lee’s childhood nickname given to him by his  father and its use in our brand is to honor his late father.

For over 15 years, Trader Buck’s has been offering a low cost option for hoosiers to start their own small business by renting and operating booths in the markets. Trader Buck’s Family of flea markets is operated by Lee now and will soon be celebrating their 10^th location, with stores all over central and northern Indiana.

Lee credits his participation in an organization called Junior Achievement (A non profit that teaches school age children about free enterprise) as his inspiration for starting and growing Trader Bucks. “I participated in Junior Achievement in high school my Jr. and Sr. year. I loved it and excelled at it. It was the first time I remember feeling like I was good at something. I had no idea at the time that free enterprise was an option for me or that it would lead to a lifetime of entrepreneurship.

I have spent the last 15 plus years trying to provide that same experience to as many members of our communities as I can. It is why Trader Buck’s was born.
